Inbound with Little or No Budget

While I love to work with large agencies and businesses I find myself helping more of the small businesses in my area to learn about inbound marketing.

I often am asked if there is a way to bring in leads the inbound way with little or no budget?

Yes, you can. You have to take the time to make it work, though.

Build your network

Take the time to build your social media network. Make sure your branding or logo is the same across all platforms. You will have to play with images/logos to get the right sizes for each platform. Make sure you’re using the same voice, color palate and messaging.

Build your following by following those in your area that you would use.Inbound with little or no budget Follow their users too. An example would be if you are a dog walking service follow the area vets, pet stores, groomers, dog parks. Then follow people who follow them. Many people will see that you have a common interest and will follow you back.

Create and share great content

If you have a website make sure it has content that speaks to your customer’s pain points. If you have not built a website yet at least share articles and blogs that talk about the industry you are working within. Make sure any time you are “sharing” that it is a quality piece of content and that it reflects well on you.

Make the time to work your networks

You will have to take time every day to find, share and post on all your social media. There are services such as Klout and Buffer that will help you find and post items of interest. They are free/pay for more option, sites and very helpful.

If you follow industry blogs and find information that you feel your customers would benefit from then share it with them. While scrolling through your social media if you find something you think is worth sharing, share or retweet it.

Do you find yourself answering the same question over and over again? Post the question and answer on social media, start a conversation with your followers.

The reality is most businesses starting out don’t have a lot of capital to put into marketing but if you will set aside the time you can do some outreach through social media and your website.
