7 Keys to SEO

It seems it’s a season to help Bloggers here at TA Inbound. Today I want to help you all understand SEO practices that you should use in every blog.  Once you understand these 7 keys they will become second nature and will help your blog/web page to rank higher in search engines.

SEO looks for Keywords

Keywords are the words that others would type into a search box to find your blog topic.  There are people out there that will tell you to set just one word to shoot for.  But that is old information!  Think about how you search for items online.  Do you ever use just one word?  No, you will use a phrase.  In the industry, we call those Longtail Keywords.  These are what you want to start using.  Write them naturally in your blog.  I know bloggers who write their blog than work out their keywords based on the topic they wrote on.

Write Your Blog for the Reader

Over the past couple of weeks, I have been reading a lot of blogs.

I have also been grimacing at a lot of blogs!  As I have been talking to many blog writers I’m finding a trend.  Many people go into blogging thinking only about how it will benefit them.  Forgetting that if they want to benefit from a blog they have to think of the reader.

Inbound Marketing for Crafters

Even the crafter can use inbound marketing.

So how can Inbound Marketing for crafters work?

Well first, you would start by defining your story.  Why do create what you create?  Did you choose to walk down this path or did you just happen to stumble upon it and fell in love?  Once you know your “Why” you can then start to share it online.

Inbound Marketing for CraftersSocial Media is a great place to educate people about Who you are and What you do.   With Facebook and Instagram, you can start to grow a following with a continual story running.  The images you share here can greatly increase your sales.  Make sure you tell them how they can purchase from you.  A buy now button or a link to your online store.  You can use Twitter to announce sales or places you will be.  Send out quick updates on a project with a picture. Can Inbound Marketing Work for a Crafter?

This past summer I spent a great amount of time out and about.  I visited some of the various fairs in and around my community.

While visiting booths and chatting with the owners I found a common thread.

They have  great products and do really well at the fairs but they don’t know how to market themselves.  They don’t know that by telling their story online that they can market themselves to the whole community around them.

What is Inbound Marketing?

I’m often asked what I do. I smile sweetly and tell those around me that I’m an Inbound Marketer. Often getting a blank look back. On occasion, I will get someone who actually asks what that is.

By definition is promoting a company through blogs, podcasts, video, eBooks, newsletters, whitepapers, SEO, physical products, social media marketing, and other forms of content marketing which serve to attract customers through the different stages of the purchase funnel.
