Why should I hire a freelancer?

I get that question a lot.  Why should I hire a freelancer?  Surely I can do it on my own.

Yes, you could try to do it on your own.

But is that the best use of your time?

You could write the copy for your website.  But do you like to write?  Are you good with words?  Do you know how to tell the story in such a way as to keep your audience’s attention?

Yes, you can build a drag and drop website.  But does it have the background analytics that will tell you how your site is doing?  Do you know what the analytics mean?  Do you know what a plugin is and how it works?  Or even if you need a plugin for that?

Yes, you can market yourself.

  • Do you know how?
  • Do you have an understanding of who your audience is?
  • Do you know how your buyer reacts to different kinds of content?
  • Do you know all the different kinds of content that are out there and how to best use them?

So while you could do these things.  You can learn about them.  But is this the best use of your time and energy?

Do you have the time and patience for that?

This is where you need to take a hard look at your skills and time.  What is that time worth to you?

Hiring a freelance professional will cost you some money.  The better they are the more they cost.  But you must remember ‘You get what you pay for”.   But it could free up your time.  Time, you could use to increase your product flow.  Time, you could use to talk to more clients, buyers.

A good freelance professional can give you the skills you need to take your business to the next level.  And without all the stress of trying to do it all on your own.   Hiring a freelancer can be good for your health too.  They can release some of the stress by providing valid and up-to-date information.

So how do you find a good freelance professional?

I would go to Freelancer.com Upworks.com and other similar platforms.  You are able to search for your need, read reviews and see how they rate on the platform.  These platforms also give you some security.  Their reputation is important to them.  They weed out the quacks and the cons.  They have built-in safeguards for you and the freelancer.  And it gives you one place in which to find all kinds of freelancers.

So sit back for a minute.  Think about those small tasks that could be given to someone else what is the time you spend doing them worth to you?  Now think about those big tasks.  Do you really have the right skills to do them right the first time?  Is it better to pay someone with expertise to do it for you?  How much time and money could be lost if you don’t have that site built right?

How much are you willing to invest in your business and yourself to set yourself off on the right foot?

Now that you have had time to think.  Which jobs could you hand off to another to complete?

7 Keys to SEO

It seems it’s a season to help Bloggers here at TA Inbound. Today I want to help you all understand SEO practices that you should use in every blog.  Once you understand these 7 keys they will become second nature and will help your blog/web page to rank higher in search engines.

SEO looks for Keywords

Keywords are the words that others would type into a search box to find your blog topic.  There are people out there that will tell you to set just one word to shoot for.  But that is old information!  Think about how you search for items online.  Do you ever use just one word?  No, you will use a phrase.  In the industry, we call those Longtail Keywords.  These are what you want to start using.  Write them naturally in your blog.  I know bloggers who write their blog than work out their keywords based on the topic they wrote on.

Write Your Blog for the Reader

Over the past couple of weeks, I have been reading a lot of blogs.

I have also been grimacing at a lot of blogs!  As I have been talking to many blog writers I’m finding a trend.  Many people go into blogging thinking only about how it will benefit them.  Forgetting that if they want to benefit from a blog they have to think of the reader.

So I’m going to list what you need to think about when you are writing your blog.  Be it for personal or business. Continue reading “Write Your Blog for the Reader”

Inbound Marketing for Crafters

Even the crafter can use inbound marketing.

So how can Inbound Marketing for crafters work?

Well first, you would start by defining your story.  Why do create what you create?  Did you choose to walk down this path or did you just happen to stumble upon it and fell in love?  Once you know your “Why” you can then start to share it online.

Inbound Marketing for CraftersSocial Media is a great place to educate people about Who you are and What you do.   With Facebook and Instagram, you can start to grow a following with a continual story running.  The images you share here can greatly increase your sales.  Make sure you tell them how they can purchase from you.  A buy now button or a link to your online store.  You can use Twitter to announce sales or places you will be.  Send out quick updates on a project with a picture. Can Inbound Marketing Work for a Crafter?

This past summer I spent a great amount of time out and about.  I visited some of the various fairs in and around my community.

While visiting booths and chatting with the owners I found a common thread.

They have  great products and do really well at the fairs but they don’t know how to market themselves.  They don’t know that by telling their story online that they can market themselves to the whole community around them.

What is Inbound Marketing?

I’m often asked what I do. I smile sweetly and tell those around me that I’m an Inbound Marketer. Often getting a blank look back. On occasion, I will get someone who actually asks what that is.

Inbound Marketing

By definition is promoting a company through blogs, podcasts, video, eBooks, newsletters, whitepapers, SEO, physical products, social media marketing, and other forms of content marketing which serve to attract customers through the different stages of the purchase funnel.
